Grant to set up the IIUM Azra Banu Memorial Scholarship

ECM Libra Foundation signed the Memorandum of Agreement with International Islamic University Malaysia to grant RM2millions to set up:

1. RM1M for the IIUM Azra Banu Memorial Scholarship

2. RM1M to refurbish one block of Mahallah Aminah for students of IIUM under the IIUM Waqf Room project

The scholarship is an endowment for underprivileged students of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), IIUM of which Allahyarhamah Azra Banu Binti Masheerul Hassan, was an alumnus and also a legal counsel of ECM Libra Group. The scholarship will be awarded to IIUM Law students, with priority given to academically-sound but financially incapable students. The funds allocation of RM1 million for this purpose will be fully utilized by 14 batches of recipients for the next 18 years. Recipients will receive a full tuition fee, academic recurrent fees, mahallah fees, monthly stipend and book allowance.

As for the refurbishment of the Mahallah Aminah, it will see a significant upgrade of facilities and soon, the students will be able to enjoy better furniture and facilities through the refurbishment, furnishing of room furniture and washroom facilities.

We hope that with the grants, it will allow the underprivileged recipients to get a leg up in life and the significant upgrade of facilities and refurbished accommodation will provide a more conducive environment for the students.
